Today is a definite music day. I downloaded a whole lot of shit from the White Stripes, and am listening to my Promise Ring/Get Up Kids collection that I've ignored. I'm realizing that Jimmy Eat World is a spectacular band, and when you need a good rock song, The Middle will do. So here's some things that I've learned today about music.
-You can go a long way with one drum (White Stripes - Little Room)
-There's a grey area between rocking out and tearjerking vomitinducing ballads - you can have a good, relaxed rock song (Get Up Kids - Fall from Grace).
-You can be good new music without being totally revolutionary, just by experimenting a little (White Stripes - Fell in Love with a Girl)
-Your voice can suck ass, that doesn't mean you have a bad song (White Stripes - Hotel Yorba)
-You can be mainstream, but if you have a good rock song, then you're alright (Jimmy Eat World - The Middle)
Some of these I knew before, but this is the first time I put it into words.
If I had to explain it
I wouldn't know where to start
It's like you're fallin' in love
While I just fall apart
