So my day started at 10AM yesterday, when I went to range. There were two girls who can't drive. They turn out of the course to go back up, and end up lodged on the curb. After they got off the curb, they backed up. I yielded to them, waiting for them to cut in, but they insisted I moved forward. Alright, I thought, until the instructor signaled me to stop and her to go. I pulled up the interstection and he said I did the right thing in stopping and he had no idea why CurbGirl refused to cut in.
So I would think that's the end of the green car. Wrong. We've switched drivers, and so have they. The new girl keeps tailgating us. You're supposed to leave a space cushion, and she won't get off our tail. David would speed up sometimes to get them off, but they always ended up tailgating us.
Long live CurbGirl and the Tailgator.
So then I had planned to do things with friends - maybe go see a movie. Well, they were supposed to be here at 1PM. They weren't. I waited... Deana showed up at 2PM, Carl about half an hour later, Dave about 15 minutes after that and finally Rustle in another half hour. Carl and Dave seemed like they wanted to see X2. It was nearing on too late, so that fell through. We just hung out, watching dumb flash movies, playing videogames and watching movies I had downloaded. We headed to Apocalypse to get us some free comics (5/3/03, free comic day). At dinner, Carl told stories of 1.2 and managed to crack us up more than once. He's a good storyteller.
Dave and Carl ended up having to head home around 7-9, but I managed, somehow, to have Rust and Deana stay overnight. Additionally, as they all left, each had their parents mad at them: Carl was supposed to be home earlier, Dave suggested staying over here and his mom screamed at him for it, and Deana had an argument with her mom and ended up grounded. Russ doesn't count, because he doesn't live with his dad. I did have a conversation about how all my friends had obstructive parents and how much this pisses me off, because I don't have weekday afternoons.
We watched some more movies, and ended up watching Office Space, a movie I'd downloaded. Very good movie... My top list ranks like this right now:
1. Minority Report
2. Memento
3. The Usual Suspects
4. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
5. Catch Me If You Can
6. Office Space
7. Phone Booth
It's a movie I could very well watch over and over again, Russ at one point referred to the guy as his hero.
Deana had to sleep downstairs, but Russ and I stayed up talking. About bitches, about music, about Deleted, about our years, and about sleep. He was fading in and out of consciousness when I played Narcolepsy just for a minute. He seemed to have started snoring, so I hit the lights and turned off the music. 'Nice', he said. I talked a little bit more about how the song is all about how much you value sleep when you don't get any, and how musicians write about love as this wonderful emotion, but it's really not. Sleep is the most wonderful feeling in the world, to fall asleep and let time pass faster than light disappears, to let everything relax, to forget what you need to, to lie in bed for a few hours longer than you need to. "...totally serene... totally with it... just lay back forever..." I said, and I noticed Russ had really fallen asleep this time, so I turned over and went to sleep as well.
