markodepollo: You know what I can't wait for?
janiecree: what?
markodepollo: The internet generation to grow up.
janiecree: that should be interesting . .
markodepollo: We're a generation raised on casual global communications, where a friend from britain talking to you for free instantly is nothing impressive.
markodepollo: We're a generation used to using the internet as a high-speed library full of musings, products, information, media, communications, you name it.
markodepollo: I've had the internet since AOL version 3.0.
janiecree: true .. that's a bit mind boggling to consider
janiecree: i never even had a computer till i was a senior in high school
markodepollo: Seven years old, babe.
janiecree: altho my boy did from when he was a tot . . bu tnot computers like today
janiecree: ahh .. im so old
markodepollo: We're a generation that's even more well-educated than any generation before us.
markodepollo: The average internet user reads a LOT.
janiecree: yeah . .
janiecree: education is good
markodepollo: You may not think you read a lot, but the internet turns you on to a lot of reading.
markodepollo: You read comics, you read articles and news, you read diaries. You read fiction, opinion, autobiographies and news stories every day.
markodepollo: Even better, you can access information abuot any subject.
janiecree: yeah . . that's really priceless . . imho . .
janiecree: people have broader perspectives . . or a chance at
janiecree: that was such a wrong sentence. heh
markodepollo: I know what you meant.
janiecree: but .. yeah .. it's pretty weird to consider . . i mean . . i can't express the tiny, close mindedness of the town i grew up in . . although i know that still exists . . it doesn't have to anymore
janiecree: i may not have grown up with the 'net but i am as comfortable chatting with someone as i am face to face . . and i was just talking today ... about how there is the same sort of instant perceptions created when you speak to someone for the first time on the 'net ...
janiecree: it's always interesting to see where things lead . . where a new group of people will take things . . although i am not a subscriber to any beliefs of great change
markodepollo: I'm very interested to see where the internet takes the world.
markodepollo: How it alters the flow of culture and the mindset of america. It's the world's biggest library. It keeps people informed and keeps people educated. However, I think the most important is that it's very anti-establishment. It puts people in a very anarchic mindset - the internet is ungoverned, free, and offers everything.
markodepollo: I would say it's the most important achievement of the twentieth century.
janiecree: true
janiecree: I think I would agree . . I'd give up a whole heck of a lot of things before the internet.
janiecree: and I understood important in a more global sense . .
