Today was alright. Yesterday was better.

After colloquium, we went to TNT for an hour, and played the tower map for WCIII. after that, I made some calls, and Carl and I headed to Taco Bell for lunch. We sat there doing Calc homework (that we ended up not having to do) and soon, left for Russ's. He had stayed home, so far away. I parked at his place, and we left on the Addison bus for the Bottom Lounge. We walked to the place and they told us that the show was at six, so we went to a comic shop and came back.

The concert was fucking amazing. The Format was as good as I'd heard, even better sometimes. They were all pretty ugly, but they had six members, with as many as four people on guitar/bass at any one time.

MBD was fantastic. They were very solid and very dramatic. I wasn't prepared for how good they'd really be. The cellist was remarkably attractive (The Cello? So sexy in a rock band). The lead singer got into it, and everyone knew what he meant when he said he was gonna sing a song about zombies (killbot2000!). Their stuff got stolen in Cleveland, so Drew Carey lied.

The New Amsterdams was actually one guy, who I later found out was the lead singer from the Get Up Kids. I have nothing but good to say about this guy. He was up there for an hour and a half, :45 longer than he needed to, because Straylight was running late. He played and played. He played covers of GUK stuff (though he claimed he didn't know any of it), of Outkast, of everything. He was incredible. He bantered with the audience, took requests, even proclaimed one guy the "Best Heckler Ever" ("Hey, friend, what's your name?" "My name's friend, what's your name?" "Buy this guy a drink!" "" "What'd you say?" "I said... I don't know!"). This guy tried his damnedest to keep us interested long after Straylight should have been getting drunk, and for that, I congratulate him. He's the hardest working guy in emo.

Straylight Run was also incredible. I would say they're the best, but that's because all of them were equally fucking fantastic. The drummer was godly, Michelle Nolan? So hot, even moreso in person. The lead singer probably is hot to the womens. Michelle played what she played competently, there was a good bassist who was slightly pushed to the side. The drummer had good hair.

Halfway through SR's set, I thought, goddamn, I'll never be able to see such a fantastic lineup again, and through the last song (Existentialism on Prom Night), as I was screaming all the lyrics and giving myself a sore throat, I was wishing, damn, I wish I knew more lyrics.

I got out just on time, we took the Bus to Russ's and I drove Carl home. I slept alright. More than I will this evening, for sure.
