You've nailed highs and lows, brother.

From "He used to be cool" and promptly getting served to among the shortlist of people you don't hate.

Not bad.

But you're an okay guy, Ian. You're decisively all right. Your sense of humor bothers me a lot less than it used to, and that's an improvement. I think your sense of humor is different per audience, and it doesn't bother me so much when I'm around, therefore. I know, I'm smoking something. You get the point.

We probably wouldn't be as good friends as we are if not for our lunch period. I would go on thinking you needed a sedative, and you would go on thinking I was a prick. Fair. But I guess getting to know each other just knocked it up a few.

I think the beautiful part is that you seem pretty goddamned relaxed. I could say whatever about comparing your skillset to mine, and believe me, I was tempted. But that would make me sound like an awful person. And honestly, it's not about that. It's more about this.

One, you're approachable. You're not a high school android, which comforts me. Just like me, you have a broad skillset, but ain't just some megaprodigy.

Two, you're relaxed. You have your days, sure, but not every day is a trial for you. I believe you oughta do what you want, and I believe you do that.

So Ian, McAllister or whatever, I hope you enjoy it. I want you to know that once I got to know you, I earnestly enjoyed your company.
